Anyu's Surgery

November 24th

Hey Saints--It is time to pray. As I write this, the wheels are in motion for Anyu's surgery. A team is here from France and they are performing the surgery on Weds. for Anyu. We have blood donors who are donating blood this afternoon. We have (what I have been told) the best facility in Cambodia--which is a hospital in Phnom Penh. We will be bringing his mother tomorrow to Phnom Penh. I have been told by medical professionals that these surgeons are qualified and experienced. Pray. Pray. Pray. This operation is not a sure thing. There is risk involved. May we -- in the name of Jesus-- have one more thing to be thankful for on Thursday.

God is answering our prayers! Praise Him!

Anyu successfully made it through 9 hours of surgery!!! The medical team had to reconstruct his face, but his tumor is completely removed. He has not yet woken up, and will stay at the hospital for the next 10 days. The next step, which will be a long one, is recovery. His doctor wants to return in 6 months to help with reconstructive surgery. Anyu's jaw is eroded and in need of serious dental care. He will not be able to eat solid food for several months. Anyu will return to Seim Reap when released from the hospital, but will not be able to return to his village until his risk of infection is very minimal. His village is descent hike from town, and not opperated on electricity or running water. Continue to keep Anyu lifted up in prayer to God. Pray for no infection and a quick and complete recovery, in the name of our Jesus!

Matt contacted Julie before Anyu went into surgery this morning. He said that Anyu understood that his tumor would be gone today, whether it be through entering eternity without it or physically waking up in the hospital bed with a head that weighed half as much as it did hours before! You know, to the vision of the world, Anyu was a miss-fit of society. He'd been made fun of, stared at, and even left out in his own village because of his appearance. Our world, including us, could use insight from our Creator. Anyu's value is not about what people think, but rather about the way he was designed and wired dynamically by his Creator to know Him. God has placed Anyu in Takam Village at this time in history for such a time as this! God sees right through the skin and bone to the heart. He takes that of little value to the world and makes it beautiful. I am excited to see how God works through this young man to share His love and grace with his village. I am praying that the Truth of God's Word be fertile in Anyu's heart and be rooted deep in the soil of the hearts of every villager there! What a miracle. Too often our gaze misses the miracles happening every day about and even in us. The miraculous becomes empty ritual of routine we see day to day. May our eyes be refocused and our hearts aware.

May all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving as you give thanks for all the Lord is, has done, and is doing. I'm thankful this evening for the family support you all are...the Body of Christ! It's obvious that many of you have taken action in agreement on Anyu's behalf. Thank you and praise, praise God for hearing and being directly invloved in His creation!

Give thanks for His love endureth forever!

As I write Anyu is recovering from surgery. He was in surgery for 9 hours. They have removed his tumor and had to reconstruct his face. He has not awoken yet. He will be in the hospital for the next 10 days. He is at risk for infection. So pray against that. The doctor that performed the operation wants to return in six months and do some reconstructive surgery. His jaw is eroded. He also needs major dental care--but all of that one step at a time. He will be in the hospital and then we will return him to Siem Reap. He cannot return to his village immediately because of the dire conditions that exist out there. He cannot eat solid food nor will he be able to for several months.

Pray for his complete and speedy healing. Pray for us as we care for him. Pray that God will use this to open doors and that Takam -- his village will come to know Jesus as a result. Saints--just pray! We need it. Anyu needs it. His village needs it. Cambodia needs it.

Give thanks to a great and mighty God who reaches out to the least of these and changes his life forever. Give thanks that there was a day when He reached out to each of us. Give thanks that God works daily in our lives.

My heart is full, because He has filled it.

Siem Rap, the last day

The team is touring a Silk Farm today.

The team is getting fitted for their outfits.

We will have to wait to see them when they return home.

They have to boil the cocoons to get the silk.

The ladies are spinning the silk. These outfits are going to be beautiful!

This is the children's home. They had an ice cream party.

Those do not look like ice cream cones to me.

It kinda looks like a pastry. YUM!

Pastor wanted to have a special service with the staff at the children's home.

These are the last of the photos to be sent from Cambodia. Keep checking back in. I'll keep you posted when they return home. I'm sure mom and the team will have lots of stories to tell. They'll be posting them here as soon as they can. Let's pray for safety as they return to the US.

200 boys and girls packed into this small room.

Anyu has a facial tumor, we were able to pray for him.

They have found a surgeon to remove the tumor for him.

This is Anyu's sister.

Pastor is praying for her, she hasn't been able to walk for a year.

Cambodia Light Children's Orphanage is in very poor conditions.

The children were very happy after the program.

We purchased school supplies for the new boat school.

We were able to get two marker boards

and two 5'6 table tables for the classroom.

Got this email from my mom this morning before I left for work.

I'm sure there will be photos today but I won't be able to get to them until 8:00 tonight.

Autumn has conferences this evening.

Looks good!  We went to a village today and another orphanage today

right now we are eating lunch.  They only bring 1 dish at a time so

it takes so long.  Were all on a different time there is 12 hours

difference so we are still waking up at 3 and 4 in the morning.

Sien Reap, Tuesday

This is the PCL Children's Home, in Sien Reap.

They welcomed the team with scarf's and did a program for them.

This is the PCL School Ministry Boast on the Tonle Sap Lake.

They teach Sunday School and English classes.

This is my mom (Denice) coming of the boat to witness to a lady who had 6 children and no husband. She never heard of this Jesus we talk of.

Can you imagine that!

Something we all take for granted.

The team did a children's program for 100 children and took gifts.

Srei, Vonna and Vassica, are the keepers of this boat.

It consisted of basin, sugar, dishes, cleaning supplies, etc.

I Scream! You Scream! We all Scream for Ice Cream!

We took a Tuk Tuk to get ice cream.

Pastor's Sunday Afternoon ice cream was shared with Sis D.

They finished the whole thing, 7 scoops.

(Which does not surprise me, my dad can pack away the ice-cream!)

And look he's smiling again. Must be that he loves children in other countries & ice cream!

Youth Service in Phnom Penh

The Youth Service in Phnom Penh has 30 high school and college students. There was a great presence of the Lord there. We also brought gifts to them, bracelets, candy, hygiene products and they loved the coloring books too.

The team taught them their song: I'm gonna clap my hands and Praise the Lord! It's a kids song, but by their faces it looks like they love it! Were all kids at heart!

Village of Water-KadenKow

The KadenKow Village that was flooded stay's under water most of the time. These families were moved from the dump by the government to where they are now. There are 1800 families of 5-6 in each family.

The team is crossing the bridge to the village of KadenKow.

The village is flooded with rain most days but families still live here.

Can you imagine having prune feet all day? Where would you rather live? In the dump or a village that is flooded?

The 200 children come from this village for the children's program. We gave them coloring books and crayons and a meal.

Day 2

I know you've all been waiting anxiously just as I have. Finally we know they made it there safe and sound. I didn't get much text with the pictures so I'll try and put this together.

I received this email at 4:00 am this friday morning. They are in Phnom Pen, the team will be visiting the Garbage Dumpsite with 100 children and doing a program for 200 children in Kaden Kow.

This pictures was taken at the airport in Kzoo.

Remember the team had 500 salvation bracelets and several hundred bags of candy to put together. Julie is packing all the bracelets. She is the missionary that the team met up with when they got there. She is the one who put their schedule together.

AJ wanted to go trigger treating twice because he wanted to go with his cousin Jacob. His mother told him if he went the second time he should give his half of his candy to the children in Camdodia. Here's AJ, one for me, one for Camdodia.

Brian's say's we've got "Hot Wheels" in every color and size.

Denice is counting Jump Ropes with Balls & Jacks attached there were 135 sets.

Rhonda & Debbie counting Beenie Babies. We had several people donate their collections to the children.

Pastor Davis say's I think this one is shy about 10 lbs. Find some more toys.

Salvation Bracelets

We are going to present the gospel to these children using the salvation bracelet. The Living Word Church of God made 500 bracelets for us to take.

Black - sin is what separates us from God when we choose to disobey.

Red - Jesus died for our sins, the blood of Christ. He paid the penalty for our sins.

White - when we become a Christian, God cleanses us from all sin and washes us whiter than snow.

Blue - one of our first acts of obedience is to publicly confess our faith through baptism.

Green - we must grow as a believer in all areas of our life, looking at Jesus as our example.

Clear - we are made pure through forgiveness of sin, we are made clean.

We are nearing the end of our fundraising. This is our last bake sale at Harding's Grocery Store in which we made $300.00

We purchased 30 lbs. of peanuts to make peanut brittle and were finally down to 10 lbs. That really kept us hopping, but the sales were great. The money is still coming in from different people who have heard about the project to Cambodia and we couldn't have done it without you.

As you well know, the team has been established, funds are coming in, toys and candy are being collected, shots are being distributed (ouch), and the list goes on.

Mom (Sister Davis) has asked me to blog about their trip to Camboda. She will send me via email, photos and priceless information. This site is designed for Living Word Church of God, family members and friends to keep you updated. And to ask that you pray for Pastor Davis (Dad) and the team.

The team is still looking for items to take to the children. Please keep your eyes open for clarence items. Stuff that is small, children friendly and that will fit into zip lock bags.
